Teledyne RD Instruments and Aqua Vision secure multi-year ADCP deal with Rijkswaterstaat

Teledyne RD Instruments, a division of Teledyne Marine, together with its long-standing partner Aqua Vision, has secured a ten-year contract with Rijkswaterstaat, with an option for a further five years, for the supply and maintenance of vertical acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs). Rijkswaterstaat is the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, responsible for the design, construction, management and maintenance of the Netherlands’ main infrastructure facilities, including its waterways.

Under the agreement, more than 80 Teledyne RD Instruments WorkHorse II ADCPs will be delivered to support Rijkswaterstaat’s water monitoring programmes across the country. Known for their reliability, quality and future-proof design, the instruments will form a cornerstone of the agency’s monitoring operations.

New phase of collaboration

The project officially began on 31 July in the city of Delft with the delivery of the first WorkHorse II ADCPs and battery packs, marking the start of a new phase of collaboration.

“Delivering the first units by hand after years of preparation and discussions was a truly rewarding moment,” stated Arjan Rietveld, sales manager, Imaging & Instruments, at Teledyne Marine. “Seeing the enthusiasm of the users who will work with this equipment was the highlight. We’re proud that Rijkswaterstaat chose our robust and trusted WorkHorse II. We couldn’t have done it without the strong collaboration and support from Aqua Vision.”

Jeroen van Dam, head of sales and marketing at Aqua Vision, added: “It’s been fantastic working with Teledyne RD Instruments to make this possible. Their flexibility and commitment to delivering the best possible offer truly made it a collaborative effort. Handing over the ADCPs together with Arjan is the crowning achievement of our joint work.”

Long-standing collaboration

The technical and contract manager at Rijkswaterstaat, Ilke Hagendoorn, commented: “Rijkswaterstaat employs various types of ADCPs and floats to measure, among other things, flow velocity and direction in Dutch waters. Some of these ADCPs are now more than 20 years old, which shows the high quality of the Teledyne RD Instruments ADCP products. Aqua Vision has maintained all Teledyne RD Instruments’ ADCPs and floats on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat for many years, consistently proving to be a reliable partner. We are therefore pleased to continue this collaboration and to have Aqua Vision supply us with the new generation of ADCPs from Teledyne RD Instruments in the coming years.”

Teledyne RD Instruments and Aqua Vision noted that they look forward to supporting Rijkswaterstaat in achieving its monitoring goals through reliable technology and close cooperation.
