Transport and Installation of 36 Foundations for Borkum Riffgrund

Jan De Nul Group, Belgium, has signed a contract with Dong Energy from Denmark for the transport and installation of 36 monopiles and transition pieces for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in German territorial waters. Additionally, the Group has been awarded the supply, transport and installation of scour protection for all foundations.

Installation works will start in the first half of 2018. Jan De Nul will deploy its jack-up vessel Vole au Vent to install the foundations.

Borkum Riffgrund Wind Farm

The Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea, within the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), at 17km east of the border with the Netherlands, 34km north of the island of Borkum and 50km north-west of the German mainland. The Borkum Riffgrund wind farm received grid connection for 450MW.

The project is one of several located within a cluster of projects in an area especially designated for offshore wind energy production (Vorranggebiet Windenergie).
