Trimble GPS Positioning for Willem Barentz

Maritime Training Institute Willem Barentz (MWB, Netherlands) has received advanced GPS positioning equipment supplied by Trimble and Geometius. The students can use this modern equipment, consisting of a GPS base station and rover, including a tablet PC, during their education and be in the forefront of the Geo-ICT.

All systems are robust and IP67-rated. This makes the SPS range suited for hydrographic purposes. The new Maxwell 6 chips prepare the receivers to catch GPS, GLONASS and the future Galileo signals.

Geomatius presented a third system which is built in a 19” rack to be built in the survey vessel Octans. This system easily can be connected to GPS reference networks like Trimble VRSNow.

The students will be instructed on the use of this GPS equipment by Geometius in february so they can make optimal use of the devices suring their educational projects.
