Two Quasar Work Class ROVs for Bibby

Bibby Remote Intervention Limited (BRIL, UK) have taken delivery of their fifth and sixth SMD Quasar MkII vehicle which increases their fleet to seven SMD work class ROV systems. Both Quasar vehicles are 150hp 3,000m rated work class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) complete with Launch and Recovery System (LARS).

The Quasar work class ROV is the mid-sized vehicle in SMD’s Q-Series work class ROV range offering in-current performance, tooling, instrument space and access for maintenance. Utilising the latest multi-platform Curvetech components, the Quasar is capable of survey, construction and drill support operations.

One of BRILs new ROVs, Quasar 23, is to be mobilised in the Gulf of Mexico on DSV Texas, and will be conducting a variety of tasks including pipelay support, light construction and inspection work. Their other new ROV, Quasar 22 has mobilised to Singapore and is available for work.

Bibby also own an Atom ultra compact work class ROV which is currently mobilised in South East Asia onboard Bibby Spring DSV, and has already assisted in numerous projects ranging from dive support, light construction and pipeline inspection tasks.

Bibby are reporting ROV fleet downtime of 1% for 2014 and their end clients expectations are being exceeded with these versatile new generation of SMD vehicles.
