UCO expands Seaeye Falcon fleet with major aquaculture contract

Underwater Contracting (UCO), the world’s largest fleet owner of Saab’s Seaeye Falcons, has secured one of the largest contracts in the global aquaculture industry, expanding its fleet to 27 vehicles. The multi-year agreement will see UCO’s Falcon fleet operate 365 days a year, providing a variety of services across Europe, North America and Australia.

Specializing in aquaculture, UCO has been using Seaeye Falcon underwater vehicles since 2018, deploying them for animal welfare and installation integrity across aquaculture sites on three continents. During this time, they have successfully designed and developed industry-leading technologies, such as their FOOVER Mortality Recovery system, NETFIX Net Repair system and G-LANCE Cage Cleaning system, utilizing the Falcon system’s power and intelligence.

Million hours underwater

UCO chose the Seaeye Falcon as it is the world’s top-selling underwater robotic vehicle in its class, versatile enough to be used in offshore energy and maritime sectors as well as aquaculture. With a reliability record of over one million hours underwater, the compact metre-sized vehicle can be fitted with role-changing, heavy tooling systems. The Falcon has five powerful thrusters and intelligent control architecture, making it capable of precise manoeuvrability in complex structures and strong currents. It is designed and manufactured at Saab UK’s Fareham site and is regarded as the most successful underwater electric robotic system of its class.

UCO not only offers underwater services for the maintenance of aquaculture sites throughout Scotland, Canada and Europe, but also provides support for renewable energy industry projects, including wind, tidal and wave, as well as oil and gas industry clients.

Overall, with their expanded fleet of Seaeye Falcons, UCO is well-positioned to continue delivering top-notch services to the global aquaculture sector, as well as to clients in the renewable energy and oil and gas industries.
