UKHO Europort 2003 Preview
The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO), will be showcasing its developments in digital products and services for the commercial shipping industry at Europort in Amsterdam this November. The new Admiralty ECDIS service is currently undergoing sea trials ahead of commercial launch, scheduled for early next year. The service will enable shipping companies to reap the full benefits of electronic navigation now by providing global coverage of IMO-approved electronic charts that can be used in place of paper charts to meet SOLAS chart carriage requirements.
The UKHO is preparing to roll out a brand-new service for ARCS Navigator. The ARCS Online Update Service is an internet-based facility enabling customers to access corrections to its global folio of ARCS charts from anywhere in the world and at any time.
Revealed at Norshipping in June and launched at the end of August, the package contains details of more than 70,000 navigational lights world-wide, accessible through a user-friendly, chart-based interface.
