UMI SAN Adds Hydrographic Vessel

Recently, UMI SAN from Brazil took the new survey vessel St. Edwiges into service. She has a steel hull, two engines with 600HP of propulsion each, two generators and appropriate accommodation for continuous operation. The reduced sail area ensures exceptional safety and performance for hydrographic surveys in offshore areas, bringing more efficiency and quality to the work.

Prior to UMI SAN’s acquisition, St. Edwiges worked for more than two years for a dredging company in bathymetric monitoring for Açu Port installation, located in northern Rio de Janeiro. Her recent acquisition and suitability for UMI SAN's hydrography work focuses on attending the hydrographic monitoring during the new dredging stage in progress at Açu Port.

Moon Pool

St. Edwiges can accommodate up to 15 people (3 crew members and 12 passengers). The vessel's main feature for hydrographic, oceanographic and geophysical surveys is the moon pool which is installed centrally in the vessel. This allows MBES transducers installation near the gravity centre of the vessel, which ensures equipment safety and quality data.

The UMI SAN board expects that St. Edwiges will bring more competitiveness to the company, providing quality hydrographic surveys and meeting the most stringent criteria of S-44 and Norman 25 (Brazilian hydrographic standard).
