Updates to Sentinel V and Workhorse ADCPs

Teledyne RD Instruments, USA, has announced two updates to its Sentinel V ADCP. These enhancements include a complete update to the firmware and the user software interface program, ReadyV, and an update to the post-processing Velocity software package. These two releases provide for more flexibility in the setup of the instrument, including two completely independent ping profiles, an improved web interface, and a post-processing software package for its Sentinel V and Workhorse acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP).

These updates provide users with vastly improved currents and waves data collection, as well as post-processing capabilities.

The firmware upgrades allow a user to now use any web browser on their computer, laptop, tablet, or phone – allowing for easier and faster data setup and testing from any device. The software upgrades include a fully integrated version of waves processing from the company’s popular WavesMon software programme, providing a waves processing package that capitalises on the full capabilities of the five-beam Sentinel V. The upgrade provides new tools that help users perform rapid reviews of large PD0 data files collected by units that support the data format.

Additionally, customers now have the capability to migrate to a single electronic activation – now three user licences – eliminating the requirement for using dongles.

In order to take advantage of these upgrades, current customers must email their Sentinel V serial number and a copy of their Velocity dongle licence number to Teledyne RDI’s field service department. Further instructions will be provided via email.
