Valeport Reveals the Latest Sensor and Software Updates - 05/04/2017
Valeport is using Ocean Business 2017 as a platform to highlight a number of exciting new developments across its range this year. The company is showcasing new and developed technologies at its stand, M1.
A new sensor especially designed for the dredging community, which will be on show for the first time at Ocean Business. The new dredgeMATE turbidity sensor integrates with the popular and capable SWiFT SVP (CTD) to produce a useful profiler for any survey requiring CTD and turbidity.
The latest software from Valeport for use on iOS and Android was presented by product manager, Jim Gardner, on Tuesday 4 April at Ocean Business. Valeport Connect will support automatic connection with Valeport’s Bluetooth enabled products. Valeport Connect offers download capability with data translation and, once downloaded, allows both current and historic data to be visualised. Multiple profiles can be compared in graph view, while graphs can be further shared via email or cloud services. Valeport Connect can be downloaded and configured for new and legacy products. Windows 10 compatibility is in development.
rapidSV and rapidCTD upgrades
A number of key revisions have been introduced to the rapidSV and rapidCTD profilers, the probe series that allows data profiling whilst a vessel is underway; popular with users of the Teledyne rapidCAST winch deployment systems. A rechargeable battery will delivery extended deployment times; the inclusion of GPS will offer the benefits of geo-location of files; and dual Bluetooth will provide enhanced communications for easy data download and allowing a surveyor to conduct SV profiles on command.
Valeport will launch a new range of optical sensors, designed by its in-house specialists and manufactured at its state-of-the-art premises in Devon, UK. The range will include turbidity, chlorophyll a, rhodamine, fluoresceine, phycocyanin and a crude oil sensor with UV excitation at 365nm.
AUV Sensor Technology
While AUV manufacturers worldwide already use Valeport technology to measure sound velocity, temperature, depth, distance and chlorophyll via a fluorometer, Valeport will continue to extend its range of bespoke AUV sensor solutions.
Valeport’s new monitor range will offer GPS position, a long life rechargeable battery, large memory and easy set up / transfer of data to support logging of tide, wave, pressure, temperature, chlorophyll, rhodamine, and fluorescein data.
Improved Seal tagging
Valeport has supplied more than 1000 CTD sensors to the Scottish based Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) for use in tags. The design has now been modified to include a fluorometer to produce a CTF sensor while maintaining a small footprint to continue tag integration. This new sensor development will help both SMRU and its customers to obtain invaluable oceanographic data sets.Last updated: 22/09/2020
