Versatile Electronics Package

Kongsberg Maritime has signed a contract with Norwegian shipyard Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk to supply equipment and services for a new research vessel currently in production for the British organisation Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In many ways the new vessel is similar to the modern, well-equipped G.O. Sars owned by The Institute of Marine Research in Bergen, Norway and built by Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk in 2002/2003 with almost the same equipment as that featured in the new contract.
The NERC research vessel will utilise the following Kongsberg products.

    Dynamic Positioning (SDP 11)
  • Automation (SVC 400)
  • Marine Data Management system (MDM 400)
  • Synchronisation unit (SSU)
  • Post-processing software and hardware
  • Sub Bottom Profiler (SBP 120, 3°)
  • Deepwater Multi-beam Echo Sounder (EM 120, 1x1°)
  • Precision Echo Sounder (EA 600)
  • Wide-band Multi-beam Echo Sounder (EM 710)
  • Scientific Echo Sounder (Simrad EK60).
