Vexcel OceanView Demo

The UK office of Vexcel Corporation has been awarded a European Space Agency (ESA) contract to demonstrate OceanView maritime surveillance for the Maritime Dimension of European Joint Operations (MDEJO). Vexcel UK was selected by Datamat (Italy), the prime contractor for the project. OceanView provides automatic ship detection from readily available, low-cost satellite imagery for use in law enforcement at sea, and at a fraction of the cost of conventional surveillance methods such as aircraft and surface ships. The MDJEO is exploring the possibility of injecting new capabilities, such as OceanView, into conventional surveillance and data-gathering operations to better support security and peacekeeping efforts in the region.
