VisualWorks System for Philippines Pipeline Project
VisualWorks has been selected by Australian underwater services company Covus Corporation Pty Ltd and its client Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX) as the Digital Video system to be used on the 2003 inspection campaign of all subsea assets associated with the Malampaya deepwater gas production facilities offshore the Philippines. The VisualWorks system is interfaced with Covus’ Scorpion work class ROV system and Fugro survey systems onboard the SPEX PSV Lady Guro. It is operated by Covus’ inspection data management subcontractor SureSpek ISS Pty Ltd, which has integrated the system with its own online data acquisition suite - SureSpek Inspection Management System (SIMS) - to provide an integrated inspection and inspection data management package. Covus has a long-term underwater services contract with SPEX and has for some time been researching ways of enhancing its service delivery. Digital video recording has been high on the priority list, driven by onsite VHS tape management and data storage problems.
