World Maritime Technology Conference 2006
The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) will host the second World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC) in London in Spring 2006 in partnership with 22 of the world’s leading maritime associations. With its theme of ‘Maritime Innovation - delivering global solutions’ WMTC 2006 is set to give a wake-up call on the maritime challenges facing the world. With ten streams devoted to separate but related topics the conference has plenty to offer marine scientists from around the world.
During the week WMTC 2006 will feature over 180 presentations covering ten technical streams in six daily parallel sessions; an exhibition, innovation sessions and a full social programme. Some of the streams incorporate IMarEST events with long and distinguished track records such as MAREC and INEC; others explore elements of marine engineering, science and technology not yet covered in IMarEST conferences. ICMES 2006 - the 10th International Co-operation on Marine Engineering Systems will be another important stream in Spring 2006.
The WMTC 2006 Call for Papers is now published. The WMTC Technical Committee, chaired by Professor Chris Hodge Freng, invites synopses on latest ideas, experiences, technologies, case studies, projects and unique operations on conference topics. These are: operational oceanography; reefs of the world; Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) management; coast and ocean mapping; underwater vehicles; marine engineering systems; commercial shipping; naval engineering; offshore oil and gas; and marine renewable energy. Synopses can be submitted online at www.wmtc2006.com until 31st March 2005.
