ADCP Workshop

On 18th November 2004 Aquavision BV from Utrecht (The Netherlands), in co-operation with the department of Physical Geography, University of Utrecht, organised a one day workshop on various applications of Acoustic Doppler Current Meters (ADCPs). It was the seventh in an annual series. Under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. P.Hoekstra (Chairman department of Physical Geography, Utrecht University) representatives from Universities, Dutch and Belgian Government, a Rockdumping Company and a Survey Company presented their experiences with ADCPs and/or new applications. OSIL Utilise Sontek ADCP

Deepwater currents are notoriously difficult to measure, the problems of working at depth, moorings, frame design, deployment and recovery all need to be taken into consideration for a successful deployment and recovery. Teledyne ADCP in Action

More than 200 ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) experts came together at the Teledyne ADCP in Action conference in San Diego. Sharing ADCP Knowledge

European surveyors working with ADCP met in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on 15 and 16 June 2016 for the ADCP Workshop organised by AquaVision. As this event had already been held several times in the past, the format was familiar. The first day included technical updates and presentations, while the second day was dedicated to a good hands-on workshop programme for the delegates. Optimising Multiple ADCP Access

EvoLogics, Germany, has upgraded its S2C/2/ADCP multiple access system to version 2.0, adding important features that optimise data retrieval from multiple ADCP instruments. The protocol for downloading files over the hydro-acoustic channel increases both speed and reliability of file transfers.     Back in the autumn of 2010, EvoLogics presented the S2C/2/ADCP space-saving and energy-efficient data retrieval system, where a single interface of the top-side EvoLogics S2C (Sweep Spread Carrier) acoustic modem provides access to two ADCPs, connected to another EvoLogics S2C acoustic modem on a surface buoy. ADCP in Moored Profiler

McLane Research Laboratories (USA) has integrated and tested a Nortek acoustic Doppler current meter for the Mclane Moored Profiler (MMP), a wire-crawling profiler. In collaboration with NortekUSA, successful tests of the Nortek Aquadopp Profiler mounted to the MMP were expanded in fully integrating the current meter into the MMP data control and acquisition system for seamless deployment configuration and data collection. The MMP autonomously profiles the water column in a time-series along a fixed tether. The Express ADCP configuration that Teledyne RDI has introduced is a cost-effective alternative to the more extensive Workhorse product. This product is aimed for users with a limited budget and for those who do not require the advanced setups of the Workhorse. The Express ADCP is a solution for moored current profiling applications. Narrow tidal channels often provide challenges to shipping. Reliable charting of tidal-stream flow is important for safety. Acoustic Doppler current-profiler (ADCP) survey is now a commonplace method of charting tidal streams. This article describes surveys carried out in Tory Channel and Te Aumiti (French Pass), two contrasting narrow channels adjacent to Cook Strait. 10,000th Workhorse ADCP Delivered

Teledyne RD Instruments has recently reached two milestones. First, in 2007, the company celebrated its 25th year of business. Then, in January 2008, Teledyne RDI celebrated another significant milestone when Workhorse ADCP number 10,000 rolled off the company's assembly line.
