New Arcs Charts for Canada

The UKHO has announced a significant increase in the number of Admiralty Charts available as part of the highly popular ARCS series. ARCS (Admiralty Raster Chart Service) charts are digital copies of the globally renowned Admiralty paper charts and are presented, along with weekly updates, on CD-Rom. As a result of positive long-term negotiations between the UKHO and Nautical Data International, Inc. (NDI) of Canada, ARCS charts now offer significantly extended coverage in Canadian waters. Shell Trials on New Admiralty ECDIS

Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd (Shell) is the latest big name in international shipping to join sea trials of the new Admiralty ECDIS Service. This service, developed by the UK Hydrographic Office to provide official electronic chart coverage on a global scale, combines Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCs) and Admiralty Raster Charts (ARCS) within a single, easy to manage package. CARIS to Support MCA Surveys

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has purchased a series of licences for CARIS products which includes HIPS/SIPS, GIS and HOM. The MCA is the national maritime administration of the United Kingdom, with responsibility to promote high standards of safety of sea and protection of the marine environment. Marine Geospatial Data Industry Seminar

The Marine Geospatial Data Industry seminar held at the UKHO at beginning of July attracted representatives from government departments and agencies, academia and from the commercial sector. The purpose of the seminar was to stimulate discussion on the potential development of a Marine Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MGDI) for the UK, the role stakeholders will play and how the initiative might be moved forward. Hydro Suite 120 for GeoDynamics

GeoDynamics has acquired a TEI HydroSuite 120 multibeam system from Triton Elics International (TEI). The HydroSuite includes all the tools needed for a complete hydrographic survey. The system will use the Isis data acquisition software with BathyRT, providing the operator with real-time DTMs to maintain high quality control over the data. Multibeam and sidescan data analysis will be performed in the TEI GIS software DelphMap. New Metoc and UK Hydrographic Office Service

Metoc pls, in collaboration with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), has announced a new data service for the marine engineering and scientific community called SeaZone. The announcement was made in London at a seminar on marine and coastal GIS. Co-sponsored by Metoc and the UKHO, SeaZone makes data available to the marine scientist and engineer in a rich, GIS-friendly format. UKHO Europort 2003 Preview

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO), will be showcasing its developments in digital products and services for the commercial shipping industry at Europort in Amsterdam this November. The new Admiralty ECDIS service is currently undergoing sea trials ahead of commercial launch, scheduled for early next year. Two New Metoc Directors
