IODE Receives ArcGIS Online

ESRI Belux has donated 50 user licenses of its ArcGIS Online to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) Project Office for International Oceanographic Data Exchange (IODE), Ostend, Belgium. To mark the occasion, the governor of the Province of West Flanders (and chairman of the Flanders Marine Institute, VLIZ), Mr Carl Decaluwé, invited ESRI representatives as well as the director of VLIZ and Project Office staff to his official residence in Bruges, Belgium. Esri has expanded its mobile geographic information system (GIS) platform to now support the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The new ArcGIS for iOS includes both a free downloadable application from Apple's app store and an API for developers to build custom mapping solutions. ArcGIS users now have access to SQL Server 2008. SQL Server 2008, combined with ESRI's powerful geodata management capabilities, will provide users with the tools they need to seamlessly consume, use, and extend location-based analysis for enterprise-scale computing and Web collaboration. New Ocean Basemap for ArcGIS

Esri Ocean Basemap has released a new World Ocean Basemap. This release reflects a major change to the structure of the basemap, as the World Ocean Basemap now consists of two layers: the base layer with the hydrographic and terrestrial cartography, and a separate reference layer that contains the reference information and labels, such as soundings, subsurface feature names and administrative boundaries. Thales Tool for ArcGIS Users

Thales GeoSolutions (Pacific) has introduced a new export utility, DXF Page Exporter, providing ESRI ArcGIS users with the ability to export a map frame or a page layout as a DXF file. Access to S-57 Data in ArcGIS
