Marport has been awarded a contract valued at approximately CAD1 million to supply its SQX-1 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) to an international geodetic survey company. Karl Kenny, CEO of Marport said that no work in the offshore industry can proceed efficiently without proper subsea survey information. Endurance Record for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle

During a mission in the Northeast Pacific, Seaglider 144 propelled itself for 292 days, covering 5,528km (3,435 miles) through the water, more than half the pole to equator distance (or about the distance between Boston and Paris). The scientific objectives of the mission were to continuously sample ocean properties, including salinity, temperature, density, dissolved oxygen concentration (by two methods), chlorophyll-a, and turbidity to 1000 metres depth in repeat surveys of the environs of Ocean Station P (50W). INSTALL srl, Italy, has just been awarded an agreement for the supply of its autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) on behalf of public authorities, environmental associations and universities. The eighth Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Showcase took place at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, from 27th to 28th September 2006. Collaboration on Underwater Inspection Vehicle

Space Florida and Lockheed Martin have signed an agreement to advance the testing and production of a new autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) known as Marlin in support of aerospace economic development in the state of Florida, USA.     Lockheed Martin will outfit the Marlin systems with sophisticated sensors and imaging equipment to conduct commercial underwater inspections. BAE Systems Launches Talisman Autonomous Underwater System

BAE Systems launched its new autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) Talisman at Oceanology International 2006. The Talisman System, developed by BAE Systems in the UK, is a latest-generation modular multi-role UUV, capable of a wide range of maritime littoral operations.
