Valeport's innovative approach to oceanographic instrumentation has resulted in a series of incremental improvements to their world-leading Sound Velocity sensors. Swathe Services has teamed up with HYPACK to offer a 'hands on' practical multi-beam training course designed to cover equipment installation, integration and calibration through to data acquisition and post processing. The event is scheduled from 16-20 November 2015, taking place in Truro, UK. IXSEA has won a contract from the French based submarine cable installation company, LD TravOcean for a GAPS USBL. The portable and calibration free Global Acoustic Positioning System (GAPS) combines USBL, INS and GPS technologies. It works both in deep or extremely shallow water. After a number of trials in extreme environments, such as very shallow water, GAPS remained fully operational.   (read more)

Planet Ocean Representing Sea-Bird

UK-based Planet Ocean has entered into an exclusive agency agreement with Sea-Bird Electronics of Bellevue, Washington, USA. The UK company has been working with Satlantic and WET Labs, the other two companies in the newly formed SEA-BIRD Scientific Group, for several years. Sea-Bird's president, Norge Larson, and Planet Ocean MD Terry Sloane sealed the deal during the opening of the Sea-Bird Scientific European service and calibration centre in Kempten, Germany.  (read more)
