NEXTMap USA Coastal Data

Intermap Technologies in conjunction with Aero-Metric have received a subscription contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for Intermap NEXTMap USA coastal data for a NOAA Coastal Services Center (NOAA CSC) managed programme. Under the contract Intermap will provide NOAA with imagery and elevation map data for regions in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. This is the first phase of a planned multi-year programme anticipated to include the purchase of similar data for the entire coastline of the continental United States. CARIS has released HIPS Version 6.0 off-the-shelf bathymetric data cleaning and validation software integrated with powerful vector product creation. Innovations at Coastal Conference

This year's Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters Conference at the International Conference Centre (EICC), to be held from 16th to 18th September 2009 in Edinburgh (UK), is organised by the Institute of Civil Engineers and it addresses the design, performance, installation and maintenance of breakwaters, sea walls, jetties, piers and beach control structures. Coastal Mapping Project Completed

Fugro, USA, has completed data acquisition and processing of the entire United States West Coast under a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in support of the National Coastal Mapping Program. The company's efforts earned Fugro the USACE 'LCDR Peter Johnson Best Practices Award' at the recent Joint Airborne Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) Annual Airborne Coastal Mapping and Charting Workshop. This major, multi-year effort covered a 1,500m-wide ribbon, extending 500m inshore to 1,000m offshore, along the coastlines of California, Oregon and Washington. LiDAR Monitoring Coastal Erosion

A new bathymetric survey of the Corsican coastline has been commissioned to provide detailed information about ongoing coastal erosion on the Mediterranean island as well as to assess the impact of manmade structures both on future erosion and navigation safety. Generation of Bathymetric Digital Elevation Models Along French Coasts
SHOM contributes routinely to the preparedness against coastal risks along French coastlines. For this purpose, regional to coastal digital elevation models are built for implementation in forecast systems against rapid flooding. By integrating users’ needs and its expertise relative to bathymetric data, SHOM offers new fit-for-purpose products along the French coastline. Bathymetric data are mainly used for producing nautical charts. However, a wide community of users requires continuous bathymetric surfaces.
