Two separate Inertial Navigation Systems are arrived at CDL during at this year’s Ocean Business event in Southampton, UK. The MiniPOS3 and MiniSense2 offer INS solutions to suit either end of the cost - performance spectrum.   CDL’s most advanced system ever, the MiniPOS3, is a full Inertial Navigation System (INS) providing highly accurate heading, pitch and roll alongside multiple aiding options including USBL, LBL, DVL and GPS to provide a positioning solution that eliminates almost all of the inherent noise and availability issues of traditional positioning systems. AUV and ROV Play Important Role in Multinational EOD Exercise

Every autumn, Iceland hosts its annual Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) exercise called Northern Challenge, welcoming NATO members and partners supporting NATO‘s Defence Against Terrorism Programme. Northern Challenge is a multinational exercise, helping to train members of NATO‘s Partnership for Peace programme. This year, participants included Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States (including Army, Air Force and Navy) and other NATO members and partners. The US Navy and the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) are committed to realising the vision that Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) are available, affordable, and can play a critical role for many applications. Working in partnership with NAVOCEANO and the Office of Naval Research, the Remote Environmental Monitoring UnitS (REMUS) was developed at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and has improved positional accuracy due to newly developed technology. INS/GNSS Inertial Navigation System for Maritime Applications

With iMAR Navigation’s iNAT-RQT-4003, an RLG-based highly accurate INS/GNSS system is launched which is not affected by any ITAR regulations and which is handled under standard dual-use export control only. Ten More DVLs for Iver AUV Navigation Ordered from Teledyne RD Instruments

Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI, USA) has received an order for a further ten custom-designed Explorer Doppler Velocity Logs (DVLs) to provide precision navigation and current profiling capability on board OceanServer Technology’s Iver3-580 autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). This brings the total number of DVLs ordered by OceanServer for integration onto IVER AUV systems to 66. Teledyne Significantly Increases Bottom-tracking Range

Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI) has released a new proprietary Extended Range Tracking (XRT) option which, according to the company, is capable of extending the bottom-tracking range of its Pathfinder and Pioneer doppler velocity logs (DVL) by 60%. Woodside Energy Chooses Deep Rated AUV

Hafmynd has sold a 1000 metre rated Gavia Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) to Woodside Energy Ltd of Australia after successful completion of trials of the 1000 metre Gavia design at Hafmynd's facilities in Iceland. Underwater Inertial Navigation

Advanced Navigation has announced the release of its Sublocus underwater navigation system. This is an underwater inertial navigation system featuring north-seeking fibre-optic gyroscopes and accelerometers with a GPS receiver and pressure depth sensor. These are fused together in Advanced Navigation's fusion algorithm to deliver positional accuracy of 0.08% of distance travelled. The systems also provide highly accurate roll, pitch, heading, heave, depth and altitude.
