BWB Acquires REMUS AUVs for German Navy

After extensive trials by the German Bundeswehr Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons (WTD 71) in Eckernförde, Germany, the Federal Office of Defence Technology & Procurement (BWB) in Koblenz has placed a contract for six Hydroid REMUS 100 AUVs to enhance the capabilities of the German Navy’s mine divers. Delivery of the REMUS 100 systems and operational training of military personnel will occur during the next 12 months. Iver2 AUV for California Polytechnic State University

California Polytechnic State University has agreed to purchase a second Iver2 AUV for research purposes. The first Iver2 AUV was purchased in 2008 and has been used extensively for a variety of research applications including one project that required the vehicle to operate under the ice in the Arctic. The new vehicle will also be a multi use platform in a number of research efforts including marine life tracking (such as sharks). University’s Falcon Gets Smart

The UK-based Heriot-Watt University has successfully integrated SeeByte CoPilot with their Seaeye Falcon 1256, an observation-class ROV. With assistance from Heriot-Watt University’s Ocean Systems Laboratory personnel, the SeeByte team integrated and tuned the system to operate with a Teledyne RDI Workhorse Navigator 600kHz DVL. The work was conducted over a two day period including testing in Heriot-Watt University’s wave tank. This configuration can be used with other Seaeye Falcon systems. Seatronics will take delivery of a full suite of subsea positioning solutions worth more than EUR1.4 million from iXBlue. OceanServer Awarded Navy AUV Contract

OceanServer Technology was recently awarded a competitive procurement to deliver two lightweight multibeam sonar equipped AUV's to the US Navy. These AUV's are to be operationally tested and delivered to the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Command at the Stennis Space Center in September of 2010. OceanServer Awarded 2 New AUV Contracts

OceanServer Technology, USA, has recently received AUV orders from NOAA and the University of Wisconsin for use in scientific research and mapping applications. The new order from NOAA represents the federal agency’s second Iver2 vehicle purchase.
