iSURVEY Helps Identify North Sea Shipwreck

During a recent offshore power cable cut and seal project on the Olympic Taurus, iSURVEY were part of the team tasked with identifying a shipwreck found three years previously during a routine inspection of the Skagerrak power cable. The wreck lies 13 nautical miles from Kristiansand in southern Norway, and was investigated using an ROV-mounted multibeam echosounder. Following the survey, it was determined that the wreck was that of the long-lost German warship Karlsruhe, famous for leading the assault on Kristiansand during the invasion of Norway in 1940. Fugro’s Bathymetric Lidar Improves Hydrographic Data Collection in Australia and Pacific Region

Fugro has successfully trialled a major upgrade to its Fugro LADS airborne lidar bathymetry (ALB) system. The enhanced LADS HD+ technology was developed in Fugro’s laser laboratory in Adelaide, Australia, and is a sophisticated hydrographic mapping system that accurately measures water depth in both the marine and coastal zone environments. ASL to Perform Hydroacoustic Studies of Eulachon Fish Distribution

ASL Environmental Sciences (ASL) was chosen by Hemmera Envirochem Inc. and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to perform a hydroacoustic study of eulachon fish (Thaleichthys pacificus) distribution in the vicinity of Deltaport Terminals off the mouth of the Fraser River, BC, Canada. To support the development of the Dredging and Sediment Discharge Plan that will form part of the Construction Environmental Management Plan of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project, the port authority has committed to developing eulachon-specific mitigation that will be used during dredging activities. TDI-Brooks Maps the Liberty Ship Reef Site George Vancouver

TDI-Brooks recently mapped the Liberty Ship George Vancouver Reef off Freeport, Texas while out on a seabed survey project with the RV Brooks McCall. The multiple multi-phase geophysical and geotechnical site surveys programme consisted of pipeline routing and subsea structures to facilitate route and project design for offshore developers. Equipment used to map the ship was a Teledyne Reson SeaBat T-20 multibeam sonar with integrated Applanix POSMV for Motion.
