Dr. Mikael Bliksted Larsen, received MSc and PhD degrees (2001) in engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. Mikael is an acknowledged expert in subsea navigation and Acoustically Aided INS having worked almost 20 years within this field. Inertial Navigation Systems (INSs) are a great help in applications where either position stability is of great importance or where bridging (small) positioning gaps is a requirement. DP Inertial Navigation System for Drillship

A first order for a Dynamic Positioning Inertial Navigation System (DP-INS) on a drillship has been received by Sonardyne International. Sonardyne Navigation for Thai AUV Programme

Marine robotics technology supplied by Sonardyne Asia Pte. Ltd, of Singapore has been selected to help navigate an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) being developed by a joint research programme between PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) and Kasetsart University (KU), Bangkok, Thailand. EIVA Awarded Development Contract

EIVA has been awarded a contract by PanGeo Subsea for development of display software for its Sub-Bottom Imager (SBI) 3D imaging tool. This tool is used for site assessment prior to pipeline laying to identify geo-hazards and debris lying in, or near, the pipeline route. It will be employed to determine the as-laid burial position of the pipeline and to conduct routine depth of burial and out-of-straightness re-surveys. Inertial Navigation for Offshore Survey

UK-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has chosen to invest in two SPRINT subsea inertial navigation systems (INS) from Sonardyne International Ltd to support ROV operations carried out by its new offshore survey business division.
