Applanix Solutions on Display at Intergeo

Applanix presents in its booth (C1-1537) Position and Orientation Systems (POS) for airborne, land, and marine surveying. Applanix will also introduce visitors to the latest POSTrack Flight Management System technology as well as the company’s advanced digital aerial camera solution, the DSS 322. Designed for superior accuracy under the most demanding active-motion conditions, Applanix POS systems measure and record the robust attitude, heading, roll, pitch, yaw, position, and velocity data needed for vehicle based surveying applications. By integrating precision GPS with superior inertial technology, POS enables geospatial projects to be completed more efficiently, effectively, and economically. The Applanix POS solution... RIEGL Presents BathyCopter at Intergeo 2015

On the first day of Intergeo, RIEGL, Austria, showcased its latest development in UAS-based laser scanning: the RIEGL BathyCopter. This is a small-UAV-based surveying system capable of measuring through the water surface, ideally suited for generating profiles of rivers or water reservoirs. The robust and reliable platform design integrates the topo-bathymetric green laser depth-meter, an IMU/GNSS unit with antenna, a control unit and a digital camera. Additional news from the airborne side: RIEGL announced the introduction of the VQ-880-G Topo-Bathymetric Airborne Laser Scanning System now equipped with an optional infrared channel to supplement the data acquired by the green laser... RIEGL BathyCopter Presented for Serial Availability

RIEGL traditionally uses the Intergeo platform to give an insight into and an overview of its comprehensive Lidar sensors and systems product range. At booth C3.059 in hall A3, on the first day of this year's event, RIEGL introduced current developments and unveiled latest products to the Intergeo audience. They included the BathyCopter for hydrographic surveys and the RIEGL VQ-1560i Dual Lidar Channel Airborne Laser Scanning System as well as the entry-level miniVUX-1UAV Lidar Sensor. RIEGL’s BathyCopter, the UAV-based surveying system for hydrographic applications has been presented as a proof of concept at last year’s INTERGEO and after a year... (read more)

German Meet French Hydrographers

After initial contacts between the Deutsche Hydrographische Gesellschafft (DHyG) and the French Association pour la Promotion de l'Hydrographie (APHY), the German Hydrographers were invited to present during the trainings day of the APHY. Holger Klindt accepted the invitation.   The first contact between the two organisations was initiated during Intergeo 2009. An official delegation of the APHY visited the Intergeo 2010 in Köln.   The APHY has a strong technical approach and emphasises the training and sharing knowledge and technical experience. Members of the organisation are representatives from French shipping and harbour organisations, but also hydrographers from the industry are... (read more)

Trimble VRS Now Service to Be Launched in Germany

Trimble will launch its Trimble VRS Now service for Germany in December. The commercial subscription service will provide surveyors, civil engineers and geospatial professionals with instant access to Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) corrections without the need for a base station. Using GNSS reference station data from SAPOS, the SAtellite POSitioning Service of the German State Survey, the Trimble service will deliver centimeter-level RTK positioning customised for each GNSS receiver's exact location anywhere in the network. The Trimble VRS Now service will supply fast, easy to use and accurate GNSS positioning for a variety of applications including... (read more)

RTK Positioning Accuracy Maintained during Outages for up to 20 Minutes

During Intergeo, NovAtel introduced its RTK ASSIST service, a subscription-based service that provides users with satellite-delivered correction data to seamlessly continue centimetre-level accuracy during Real Time Kinematic (RTK) correction outages caused by communication disruptions. Users are able to maintain RTK-level performance for up to 20 minutes, reducing any associated downtime and optimising solution productivity. RTK is a method of achieving cm-level accuracy with GNSS. However, if the RTK correction data link to the receiver is interrupted, performance degrades quickly. RTK ASSIST subscribers are able to maintain the accuracy of their positioning solution during these interruptions, avoiding any down-time.  RTK ASSIST... (read more)

Global Decimetre-level Positioning without Reference Station

Altus Positioning Systems, Germany, has introduced the APS-3L high-precision GNSS receiver. The APS-3L is the first GNSS survey receiver on the market with embedded L-band capability to work with the Veripos TERRASTAR-D differential correction service. When out of wireless range of terrestrial UHF radios or cellular networks, the system seamlessly transitions to L-band satellite connections for continuous decimetre-level PPP. It was shown for the first time to the worldwide surveying community at the Intergeo trade fair in Hannover, Germany, in October 2012. The APS-3L provides real-time kinematic (RTK) and precise point positioning (PPP) with integrated embedded UHF, cellular, and L-band... (read more)

Preview of New Optech Technology at OCEANS’14

Visitors to the OCEANS'14 MTS/IEEE conference from 14 to 19 September 2014 in St. John’s, Canada, will get a sneak preview of upcoming enhancements to Optech’s product line. Details will be available on how Optech sensors are achieving results and increasing understanding of the near-shore environment. Besides new sensor systems, Optech will also be sharing information on the new Project Programme for Optech CZMIL airborne bathymetry and water-column characterisation system. Although CZMIL is already in use with several large government agencies, it has been out of reach for smaller organisations that could use its seamless topo/bathy mapping, unparalleled turbid water...
