Kongsberg Maritime AS, Norway, has acquired InTurbine. The Norwegian specialist renewable and wind power consultancy firm joined Kongsberg Maritime’s Merchant Marine Division in Trondheim as of 1 December 2012 to support the operations and expansion of Kongsberg Wind Farm Management. The purpose of the acquisition is to strengthen Kongsberg Maritime’s commitment to development of services and products related to the wind segment through the recently established Centre for Wind Farm Management. Kongsberg Maritime Korea Headquarters

Kongsberg Maritime Korea (KMK), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime has officially opened the doors of its purpose-built new headquarters in Jungkwan, northeast of Busan, South Korea.   The official opening ceremony took place on 5th December 2007 and was attended by customers and Kongsberg Maritime management in addition to a number of local dignitaries. New Kongsberg Maritime Subsea EVP

Bjørn Jalving has been appointed as executive vice president of Kongsberg Maritime's Subsea division and a member of the Kongsberg Maritime management group, effective from 1st January 2012. Jalving succeeds Rolf Arne Klepaker, who is moving to a role working with strategic projects within Kongsberg Maritime.     Jalving started in Kongsberg Maritime in 2006 as senior principal engineer in the AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) department. Kongsberg Maritime opened the doors to its new training facility at its Bekkajordet, Horten, Norway site recently. Kongsberg Maritime Bathymetry Image Contest

Earlier this year, Kongsberg Maritime announced a photography contest to find the best bathymetric picture taken using a KONGSBERG Subsea product. Many high-quality images from Kongsberg users around the world have been submitted. The winning image was created by Marc Roche and Koen Degrendele using the KONGSBERG EM3002D multibeam echosounder. The high-resolution image reveals the dunes pattern on the central part of the Buiten Ratel and the extreme abundance of erosive grooves (~2m wide and ~0.3m deep) caused by the pipes of the trailing suction hopper dredger vessels.
