Energy for Remote Community

Swathe Services was recently commissioned by Falmouth Divers to assist on a 4km submarine power cable installation to a remote island community on behalf of one of their clients in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. Working from the Grey Bear, a landing craft type vessel provided by Falmouth Divers, Swathe Services conducted a heave-compensated singlebeam echo sounder (SBES) survey of the proposed cable route. High-resolution Multibeam Surveys Completed

Coastline Surveys Ltd (UK) has completed three high-resolution multibeam hydrographic surveys in the Southern North Sea, using the latest-generation R2SONIC 2024 combined with an iXBlue Octans MKIII Gyro / MRU and C-NAV 3050 RTK GPS positioning. The survey vessel MV FlatHolm managed to complete the three surveys in quick succession during short weather windows, with minimal downtime due to weather for clients in offshore dredging, marine renewables and energy decommissioning sectors. Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz Joins CARIS Academic Programme

The Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz (MIWB) in The Netherlands has joined the CARIS Academic Partnering Programme with CARIS HIPS and SIPS and BASE Editor for hydrographic data processing. The programme provides academic institutes with CARIS software used by the industry, allowing students to gain valuable hands-on experience prior to entering the workplace.   The maritime institute is located on the island of Terschelling in the northern Netherlands and was named after the Dutch cartographer, navigator and explorer Willem Barentsz, who was born on the island. EM 3002 Multi-beam on NOAA R/V Gloria Michelle

The United States of America National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), has awarded a contract to Kongsberg Maritime, Inc. for the supply and installation of suite of survey and positioning equipment and software for the NOAA R/V Gloria Michelle. The package includes an EM 3002 (Single) Multi-beam Sounding System including Operator Station Software (SIS), MRU-6 Motion Reference Unit, Seapath 20 Heading Reference Unit, Kongsberg bathymetric post-processing software and Echoview water column post-processing software. The R/V Gloria Michelle is a 50-foot vessel with stern trawling capabilities and is a resource of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center.... (read more)

Teaming Up to Provide Hydroacoustic Demo Boat

Kongsberg Maritime will once again provide visitors to Oceanology International with a live product demonstration facility aboard a fully equipped demo boat, this year in conjunction with survey company MMT. Stationed on the dock just outside of the ExCeL exhibition centre, the 16m survey boat MMT Seabeam is equipped with a typical Kongsberg Maritime survey suite and will be taking to the water regularly for the duration of Oi10. Kongsberg Installs Echosounders on Argentine Navy Survey Ships

Kongsberg Maritime has recently completed the installation and commissioning of the bathymetric systems onboard the 'ARA Comodoro Rivadavia', and the 'ARA Puerto Deseado', two Argentine Navy owned and operated Hydrographic vessels. The upgrades were sponsored by the UNDP (United Nations Development Programs): The first through the Environmental Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and the second through COPLA (Argentine Commission to determine the Continental Platform Limits), of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kongsberg Integrated Delivery for Angolan Research Vessel

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding of Vlissingen, The Netherlands to provide an integrated technology solution for a new 74 metre Fishery Research Vessel (FRV), which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, Romania. The vessel is planned to be delivered to the owner, the Angolan Ministry of Fisheries, in July 2018. The vessel, designed by Skipsteknisk, uses Silent-A/F/R technology to ensure highly accurate survey results from the advanced Kongsberg scientific package. Deepwater NEXUS HD Multiplexer

The MacArtney NEXUS MK VI is a HD video and multibeam sonar multiplexer that carries all signals over one single mode optical fibre via CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing). Cooperation for ROTV Supply

At the beginning of the 2013 pipeline inspection season, client requirements led to Fugro Survey Limited needing to move fast to acquire a new remotely operated towed vehicle (ROTV). MacArtney had lined up a FOCUS-2 vehicle for show as an eye-catcher at the company's Ocean Business stand in April 2013. After a to-the-point talk with MacArtney's sales manager for Ocean Science, Fugro progressed to place an order for the actual on-display FOCUS-2 vehicle. A Flooded Landscape Revealed

3D Hydrodynamic Model Developed for Sustainable Water Abstraction
During the last week of a hydrographic survey of Lough Derg, Ireland’s third largest lake, the remnants of a preserved flooded landscape were unveiled beneath the surface with each passing swath.
