John Lilley & Gillie Ltd has acquired a 50% share in marine software company PC Maritime; 50% will be retained by founders and owners David & Anne Edmonds. The agreement exploits the natural synergy between the two companies. Lilley & Gillie (with sister companies DPM (UK) Ltd and DPM (Singapore) Pte) is engaged in chart supply and navigation instrument manufacture with worldwide distribution; PC Maritime’s core product, Navmaster, is a proven electronic chart system used by leading ship managers and owners. The office of the new wholly-owned Kongsberg Maritime Company, Kongsberg Maritime Tech LLC was officially opened in St. Petersburg, Russia on 23rd March 2010. Canada Invests in Maritime Security

Baltic-wide Maritime Spatial Planning

The work on Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) in the Baltic Sea region is being followed up and further advanced in an intensive two-day meeting in Helsinki, Finland. The MSP Working Group by Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) and Vision and Strategies around the Baltic Sea (VASAB) is expected to evaluate the use of the joint broad scale MSP principles, adopted to give guidance for more coherent MSP systems in the Baltic. Kongsberg Maritime Bathymetry Image Contest

Earlier this year, Kongsberg Maritime announced a photography contest to find the best bathymetric picture taken using a KONGSBERG Subsea product. Many high-quality images from Kongsberg users around the world have been submitted. The winning image was created by Marc Roche and Koen Degrendele using the KONGSBERG EM3002D multibeam echosounder. The high-resolution image reveals the dunes pattern on the central part of the Buiten Ratel and the extreme abundance of erosive grooves (~2m wide and ~0.3m deep) caused by the pipes of the trailing suction hopper dredger vessels. Peaceful Resolution of Maritime Dispute

President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines signed on Friday 23 May 2014 a maritime boundary deal that resolves the territorial claims of the Philippines and Indonesia. During a ceremony in Malacañang, Aquino and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono witnessed the signing of an agreement settling a 20-year-old maritime boundary dispute between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.
