Kongsberg Maritime Expands Training Facilities

Kongsberg Maritime opened the doors to its new training facility at its Bekkajordet, Horten, Norway site recently. The facility features two new classrooms and one specialised training room, which have been established to meet demand for customer and employee training as sales continue to increase in all of the company's product divisions.   Executive Vice President, Ole Gunnar Hvamb performed the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new facility, which joins Kongsberg Maritime's extensive world wide training network with centres at Aberdeen (UK), Busan (South Korea), Houston (USA),  Kongsberg (Norway), Manilla (Philippines), Macae (Brazil), Singapore and the UAE. Maritime Information Infrastructure for Clydeport

OceanWise has completed Phase One of a maritime information infrastructure on behalf of Clydeport, UK. The project builds on Clydeport’s recent investment in GIS software and was targeted at improving data and information management within the Hydrographic and Dredging Department. Kongsberg Maritime Bathymetry Image Contest

Earlier this year, Kongsberg Maritime announced a photography contest to find the best bathymetric picture taken using a KONGSBERG Subsea product. Many high-quality images from Kongsberg users around the world have been submitted. The winning image was created by Marc Roche and Koen Degrendele using the KONGSBERG EM3002D multibeam echosounder. The high-resolution image reveals the dunes pattern on the central part of the Buiten Ratel and the extreme abundance of erosive grooves (~2m wide and ~0.3m deep) caused by the pipes of the trailing suction hopper dredger vessels. Peaceful Resolution of Maritime Dispute

President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines signed on Friday 23 May 2014 a maritime boundary deal that resolves the territorial claims of the Philippines and Indonesia. During a ceremony in Malacañang, Aquino and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono witnessed the signing of an agreement settling a 20-year-old maritime boundary dispute between the two Southeast Asian neighbours. Bjørn Jalving has been appointed as executive vice president of Kongsberg Maritime's Subsea division and a member of the Kongsberg Maritime management group, effective from 1st January 2012.
