Fugro GEOS reached a record total of a hundred simultaneous deployed oceanographic moorings and real-time metocean monitoring systems, which means there were four hundred recording instruments on contract in the water simultaneously around the world during the first quarter of 2010. "The hundred moorings were a combination of seventy underwater moorings and thirty rig-based systems with recording instruments measuring mostly currents," explains Fugro GEOS Operations Director, Garry Mardell. Metocean Offshore Contract

Metocean Services International (MSI) and PT Pageo Utama (PAGEO) have signed a new two year agreement pertaining to the exclusive provision of Metocean services in Indonesia at Oceanology International 08. Metocean Awareness Course

Following the success of the first two London-based Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) three-day Metocean Awareness Courses, held in 2009, the course is to be held in Aberdeen. The course is designed to ensure greater awareness of metocean conditions worldwide amongst project managers and engineers working in the offshore industries involved in operations or design, ranging from new industry entrants to those with many years' experience. Metocean Services International, a new company for the global provision of metocean services, was launched at the beginning of September It was formed in response to the industry requirement for alternative providers of specialised metocean services on a global scale. iXSea has signed a deal with MetOcean Engineers Pty Ltd (MetOcean), Western Australia for fifty OCEANO 2500 Universal acoustic releases. MetOcean Engineers Pty Ltd (MetOcean) is a consultancy company providing oceanographic and meteorological services in support of coastal and ocean engineering and environmental protection. It works in physical oceanography, supplemented by strong resources in marine and local, land-based meteorology.
