Offshore Breakfast

Subsea UK is hosting a breakfast briefing during OTC in Houston to demonstrate the significant value of innovative technology in improving efficiency and reducing costs in subsea operations. Fugro Closes Offshore Offices

Fugro has decided to re-focus its cable business by closing the Seattle office of Fugro Seafloor Surveys Inc. with immediate effect in order to concentrate its global cable work through two offices, one in Bremen in Germany (Fugro OSAE GmbH) and the other in Singapore (Fugro Survey Pte Ltd).     Both companies have long experience in the cable industry and a long tradition of operating globally. Local support will continue to be provided by the worldwide network of Fugro operating companies.   Fugro continues to invest in the industry through newly dedicated survey vessels.     (read more)

Offshore Project in Argentina

A consortium of Royal Boskalis Westminster and Allseas Group has been appointed for the construction of a gas pipeline through the Strait of Magellan in Southern Argentina. The agreement is worth approximately EUR180 million, with the share of Boskalis amounting approximately EUR90 million. The project is expected to be completed before the end of 2009.     The work consists of laying a new 24-inch undersea gas pipeline joining Cape Espiritu Santo and Cape Virgenes in waters outside the eastern mouth of the Strait of Magellan, Argentina. The length of the undersea pipeline and shoreline sections is approximately 38 kilometers.... (read more)

Offshore Success in US

Electro-Flow Controls (EFC) has announced continuing success in the US market, with its Houston office securing new work worth more than USD500,000 already this year to build on orders worth USD3.5million won in 2008. EFC has also transferred Donna Stewart from Aberdeen to Houston to take on the role of business development manager to drive further sales and growth.     Major projects secured by the Houston operation include: A subsea BOP (Blow-Out Preventor) MUX control system for end client, Well Ops, a subsidiary of Helix Energy Solutions Group. Major African Offshore Contract

Subsea 7 has been awarded its largest contract to date in Africa. The contract is a framework agreement with call-off services in support of a major development programme in offshore west Africa. Subsea 7 has signed the first call-off contract under the frame agreement with an estimated value of USD460m. The services will primarily be performed using Subsea 7's new build flexible pipelay and construction vessel, the Seven Seas.     (read more)
