Survey & Waypoint Training Registration Opens at OI China 2013

Creation of Backscatter Working Group

Geohab is putting together a Working Group on Backscatter Data Acquisition and Processing. This was one of the main recommentations of the workshop on 'Multibeam Backscatter – State of Technology, Tools and Techniques' which was held on 5 May 2013 in Rome, Italy. During this workshop, the need for standardisation of the acquisition and processing backscatter caused by multibeam echo sounders was expressed. Finnmark Platform 3D Multi-client Project Started

Dolphin Geophysical, in partnership with Searcher Seismic, is executing the 1,407 sq km non-exclusive 3D MC seismic project on the Finnmark Platform, Barents Sea, Norway. Processing has commenced in Dolphin's UK Centre using its proprietary OpenCPS software. The processing sequence has been designed to enhance the imaging of the primary Jurassic targets located at around 1sec TWT. Quantum GeoServices takeover Agreed

Dolphin Geophysical (Norway) has reached exclusive agreement to take over Quantum GeoServices (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd. The agreement is subject to due diligence and is expected to be completed in early August 2013. Based in Singapore, Quantum provides seismic data processing services including multi-component, multi-client products and training for data processing within the Asia Pacific region. Quantum GeoServices' name is to be transferred to Dolpin in the process. Applanix POSPac AIR v4.3

Applanix has released version 4.3 if its airborne data post-processing software POSPac AIR, incorporating a series of application-specific tools for systems using the company’s direct georeferencing technology POS AV (Position and Orientation System, Airborne Vehicles). Updates to Sentinel V and Workhorse ADCPs

Teledyne RD Instruments, USA, has announced two updates to its Sentinel V ADCP. These enhancements include a complete update to the firmware and the user software interface program, ReadyV, and an update to the post-processing Velocity software package. These two releases provide for more flexibility in the setup of the instrument, including two completely independent ping profiles, an improved web interface, and a post-processing software package for its Sentinel V and Workhorse acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). Live Demonstration of CARIS Onboard

During the Shallow Survey 2015 conference held in Plymouth, UK, Teledyne and CARIS showcased the latest capabilities in autonomous survey operations with a live demonstration. For this demonstration a Z-boat with MB1 multibeam sonar and CARIS Onboard was given a survey line plan and deployed in the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. The raster files were viewed at the CARIS stand at Shallow Survey in Plymouth, some 4,500 miles away. Teledyne RESON HydroSweep Opening for New Features

Teledyne RESON has released a major software update for the HydroSweep deep-water multibeam echosounders. It opens the possibility for HydroSweep users to select the hydrographic data acquisition and post-processing software of their choice, for maximised survey results and improved efficiency. Fourth Acquisition on North Sea EKOFISK Seismic Programme

CGGVeritas, France, will begin acquiring a fourth repeat survey (LoFS04) on the Ekofisk field in the North Sea as part of the multi-year Life-of-Field Seismic (LoFS) programme for which it was awarded both the seismic data acquisition and processing. Mobilisation is scheduled for early June 2012, and the shooting period will last approximately one month in accordance with the LoFS program schedule.
