Z-Boat Survey Demonstrations in Challenging Places

The first Oceanscience Z-Boat demonstrations in Canada were completed in early November 2013, concluding just as the first big snow of the year started falling. The demonstrations were arranged around highway bridges as most attendees were particularly interested in surveying close to bridges and conducting river cross sections in moderate to fast-flowing water. The demonstrations even included an underwater topographic map of a hydroelectric reservoir with a rapidly rising water level. Emarine Purchesed Full Excavator Monitoring System

A full excavator monitoring system for Emarine was delivered by RESON Rotterdam. The installation inclusive training was executed by RESON employees on the excavator Magnus which was on a project in Malta Freeport Terminal.   The delivery comprises a full set of RESON potmeter and heading sensors, RTK positioning system, interfacing of all sensors and the PDS2000-Excavator software application.       (read more)

NavCom Teams Teams with I.T.S. Corporation to Win Contract

NavCom Technology, Inc. announced that they have teamed with I.T.S. Corporation (ITS) to win the award of a multi-year contract to provide the U. S. Navy, Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) with an integrated Real Time Kinematic (RTK) and Satellite Based Augmentation (SBAS) Global Positioning System (GPS) for inshore hydrographic and offshore oceanographic vessels. Solar-powered AUV for Plate Survey

Falmouth Scientific, Inc (FSI) has supplied a solar-powered Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (SAUV) to the University of Tokyo for use in monitoring tectonic plate movement. The SAUV is a compact, man-portable AUV designed for autonomous operation for long periods (weeks to months) without requiring maintenance, servicing, or recharging.   The vehicle can be pre-programmed to submerge to depths down to 500 metres, to transit to designated waypoints, or to operate on the surface during conditions suitable for battery charging via solar energy input.  With a square metre of solar panels, the SAUV can collect from 300 to 900 Watt-hours per day...
