J+S Launches NarcineArray

On Tuesday 11 March the OI Daily editors were invited on board of the Kommandoren by J+S, a British company operating from sites in England and Scotland , with besides a brief tour aboard and history of this 120-year old Baltic sea trader, an introduction to NarcineArray.   When compared with a conventional towed array, NarcineArray provides a significant reduction in power consumption, diameter (down to 16mm), weight and drag. IHO S-100

IHO Publication 57 (IHO S-57) is the official IHO Transfer Standard for Digital Hydrographic Data, formally adopted in 1992. S-57 was intended to support all types of hydrographic data, the associated technology and different user groups, but adoption has been relatively limited. S-57 has been used almost exclusively for encoding electronic navigational charts (ENCs) for use in electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS). Type Approval for MBB-S

The Maritime Black Box-S (MBB-S), Kongsberg Maritime's flexible S-VDR solution, has received full DnV Type Approval status, following approval of the 'float free' PSU (protected Storage Unit) option in September 2005. With DnV approval for the 'fixed' PSU option received in February 2005, the MBB-S is now a fully approved S-VDR solution with a choice of PSU type. The EdgeTech 2200-S is now offered with full-spectrum (‘chirp’) dual frequency 120/410kHz or 300/600kHz side-scan sonar. The 2200-S processor transmits long, wide bandwidth pulses that result in higher resolution images and greater signal to noise ratio, resulting in extended range. USACE Delivery S/V Moritz

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recently welcomed the delivery of the S/V Moritz to their New York District. The all aluminium, 58’ foil-supported survey catamaran designed and constructed by Kvichak Marine Industries, will conduct hydrographic surveys in connection with operation, maintenance and new construction in and around New York Harbour. This is the second survey catamaran Kvichak has delivered to the USACE in 2003.
