Kongsberg Maritime Signs S-VDR Fleet Agreement

Kongsberg Maritime has been contracted to supply up to 94 S-VDRs to two separate shipping companies under a 'Fleet Agreement' arrangement. The total value of the contracts is close to US$1.4m (US). In addition to supplying the MBB-S, Kongsberg Maritime's S-VDR offering, the 'Fleet Agreements' include the training of shipping company engineers, enabling them to carry out their own installation, therefore saving initial costs. New Test Facilities at MacArtney A/S

In the summer and fall of 2004, MacArtney A/S built new and larger test facilities at the Headquarter in Denmark. The new pressure tank, which is built especially for the Antares Project, is 16 metre long, has a diameter of 0,24 metre and enables testing for 0-400 bars. A new cable tension rig, properly the largest in the Denmark, is 20 meters long and have cylinders lengths of stoke of 1000 mm. Kongsberg Maritime Upgrades S-VDR Package

The Maritime Black Box – S (MBB-S), Kongsberg Maritime's S-VDR offering, has received several upgrades in order to provide an even more cost effective package to ship owners. The black box computer's hard disk size has been increased from 40gb standard/120gb optional, to 160gb standard, which now enables up to 30 days playback time, for the same cost. This increases the potential of the MBB-S as training and trending tool, both applications that owners have expressed an interest in. New Revision of IHO S-4 Standard

IHO, Monaco, has released a revision of standard S-4 (Edition 4.4.0), Regulations of the IHO for International (INT) Charts and Chart Specifications. This edition includes the revision of Section B-300 – Topography, which has been recently approved. New specifications have also been added on ‘After disaster’ surveys and on the ‘Generic magenta light flare on multicoloured charts’. Additional clarifications resulting from discussions within the CSPCWG and editorial amendments have been included. The English version of the Standard S-4 is now available on the IHO website. New Technical Manager for MacArtney A/S

MacArtney A/S has announced that Kim Rahbæk has been appointed Technical Manager. Steen Worsøe, whom earlier held the position as Technical Manager as well as QA Manager will from now on fully concentrate on the position as QA Manager. AR861B2S Acoustic Releases

The Southampton Oceanography Centre has awarded a contract for 23 AR861B2S Acoustic Releases with TT801 command units, plus options for additional equipment in 2004, to Ixsea Oceano Ltd for the RAPID programme. The RAPID programme is part of an international study of the circulation of the North Atlantic currents and their effect on climate. H&S Certification for Osiris Projects

Osiris Projects, headquartered in the UK, has achieved OHSAS 18001:2007 certification, accredited by NQA for their health & safety management system has successfully achieved. The company is also working on improvements to their environmental management system, and anticipate ISO14001:2004 certification to be awarded within the first quarter of 2013. OHSAS 18001:2007 is the internationally recognised standard providing a cohesive framework for the monitoring, management and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety. IHO (Monaco) has published an updated revision of S-4 (Edition 4.3.0), Regulations of the IHO for International (INT) Charts and Chart Specifications. The English version is available on the IHO website at the link below. French and Spanish versions will be published in due course. The update includes CSPCWG proposals for new and revised specifications and one new symbol. REMUS 600-S to Exceed IHO Standard

Hydroid, USA, announced the REMUS 600 Survey (REMUS 600-S) at the XVIIIth International Hydrographic Conference (IHC) in Monaco. The REMUS 600-S is a high-performance version of the REMUS 600 AUV and features advanced technology that has only previously been available in Kongsberg’s HUGIN vehicles, making it ideal for applications such as International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) quality surveys. Specifically, the REMUS 600-S incorporates a Kongsberg EM 3002 Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) operating at 300 kHz.
