New Oil-in-Water Sensor

Applied Microsystems announces the availability of Leak-Sentry, our new oil-in-water sensor. Leak-Sentry is deployed underwater and uses fluorometry to detect emulsified or dissolved hydrocarbons. Unlike other fluorometers, Leak-Sentry is equipped with the necessary intelligence to rapidly characterise background hydrocarbon levels and alarm upon detection of incremental leaks or spills. Detection signals are communicated to a process control system, to a data-logger, or to any PC running Applied Microsystems' Spill-View software. Leak-Sentry is ideal for integration onto oceanographic buoys for long-term environmental monitoring. Sediment Sensor LISST-200X

Geometius, The Netherlands, has introduced the LISST-200X of Sequoia Scientific as the successor of the LISST-100X. The device is a small-size submersible particle size analyser with integrated depth and fast response temperature sensors to improve profiling data. This model measures particle sizes from 1 to 500 microns at up to 600 metres water depth. It outputs the mean size and total volume concentration as analogue voltage or digital while simultaneously storing the full size distribution internally for later downloading. Triaxis Next Wave Sensor Update

The TRIAXYS Directional Wave Sensor was originally developed by AXYS Technologies Inc. in conjunction with the Canadian National Research Council (NRC) in 1998. Applied Microsystems (AML) announces the launch of SV-Xchange - the world's only exchangeable, field-swappable sound velocity sensor. Any SV-Xchange sensor can be connected to any Xchange enabled instrument without compromising calibration accuracy.   At time of recalibration, spare calibrated sensors can be shipped to the instrument, allowing the instrument to stay in the field. New Space for Sensor Technology

Turbidity measurements are often made in shallow waters and keeping the instrument optical face clear is particularly important. Turner Designs has introduced a turbidity sensor addressing this issue with a simple solution. Turbidity Plus is an accurate single-channel turbidity sensor including an integrated wiper which is triggered by the user. The NexSon Bathy/OSP contains high accuracy conductivity, temperature, pressure and altitude measurement probes for precision depth, altitude, conductivity, density and velocity of sound measurements.
