UKHO International Training Success

For the fifth consecutive year, the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has delivered a successful outcome from its internationally renowned and accredited marine cartography courses. The course provides students from around the world with fundamental skills and knowledge to compile and maintain digital and paper navigational charts to the standard required for safe sea-going navigation. Students from the Hydrographic Organisations of Algeria, Bulgaria, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago and Japan arrived at the UKHO in Taunton, Somerset, in September 2013 to undertake the intellectually challenging 15-week programme. Echoview Training in Europe

Dr Toby Jarvis from the Echoview team will be running a three-day Echoview training course in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic from 3 to 5 September 2014. Registration of interest can be submitted online by Wednesday 6 August. Alternatively, from 8 to 11 September 2014, Toby will be available in that location there to discuss all things acoustic and Echoview which is based in Australia. If that doesn’t work out, there’s an option to arrange a visit to an institute while Echoview is ‘in the area’. (read more)

Mercury for ROV Training

The Underwater Centre has recently added to its training capabilities by acquiring another Mercury Sonar. Originally designed for Mine Hunting and Classification, the Mercury Sonar is a compact, frequency agile system operating from 600kHz to 1.2MHz, combining long-range target identification with short range measurements.   Now standard on smaller observation ROVs, it is manufactured for use at 300m,1000m, 3000m or 6000m. Sonar Training Seminar

Black Laser Learning has opened the registration for their fifth live intensive three-day seminar that will take place in Annapolis, Maryland, 8th to 10th February 2011. The annual event is co-sponsored by International Industries, Inc., leaders in hydrographic and oceanographic products, and is aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of all types of sonars and their capabilities for government, military and law enforcement personnel.
