UKHO International Training

Students from six different countries were the latest to learn how to produce and maintain Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) by attending an intensive five -week course delivered by UKHO's staff.   The training took place at the Marine Cartographic Training Centre at UKHO's headquarters in Taunton and was supplemented by visits to work areas within the UKHO along with external visits to Devonport, Britannia Royal Naval College (Dartmouth), and Brixham Harbour.   This course is part of the UKHO Bursary programme which supports the International Hydrographic Office's (IHO) commitment to capacity building, and developing international capability. Comprehensive Sonar Training Seminar

EdgeTech will be conducting a comprehensive sonar training seminar in Singapore from 14-16 July 2008. Multibeam Operator Training Course

MosaicHydro (Canada) has announced a 5-day Multibeam Operator Training Course offered in Sidney, BC (Canada) from 3 to 7 March 2008 at a cost of USD3200 per student. Mercury for ROV Training

The Underwater Centre has recently added to its training capabilities by acquiring another Mercury Sonar. Originally designed for Mine Hunting and Classification, the Mercury Sonar is a compact, frequency agile system operating from 600kHz to 1.2MHz, combining long-range target identification with short range measurements.   Now standard on smaller observation ROVs, it is manufactured for use at 300m,1000m, 3000m or 6000m. QINSy Training Schedule 2011

QPS has presented its training schedule for QINSy for the first halfyear 2011. The two-day training courses are taking place in the office in Zeist, the Netherlands, however also in Malaysia and in the United States trainings will be available. The training groups include a maximum of ten participants. The course dates are 18-19 january, 1-2 and 15-16 February, 1-2, 15-16 and 29-30 March, 12-13 and 26-27 April, 10-11 and 24-25 May and 7-8 June 2011. More information is available on the QPS website. Doppler Velocity Log Training

Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI, USA) will host a 2-day training seminar focused on their Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) technology. DVLs are used extensively onboard underwater platforms and surface vessels to provide precision navigation capability. This training will be hosted in Houston, TX, USA on 18 and 19 April 2013.
