UKHO Release First Russian ENC Cells

Russian Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) are now available to shipping companies via the UKHO's Admiralty ENC and ECDIS Services. These new ENC cells form part of a comprehensive scheme of coverage planned for release via the UKHO over the coming months. The first cells released provide port and approach scale ENCs of Tuapse in the Black Sea. Additional ENCs of the Black Sea, Sea of Azof and Caspian Sea are expected to be released in the coming weeks and a further 70 cells of the North Russian coast will be released mid year. The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) continues to expand its Port Approach Guide portfolio, with coverage in Asia set to expand significantly through the inclusion of ports in China. The UKHO's Port Approach Guides are port-scale charts that contain a wide range of planning and support information for ports. Taken from official ADMIRALTY charts and publications, this planning information usually includes Vessel Traffic Service Information (VTS), Principal lights and landmarks, tidal information, pilotage, port regulations and other port specific warnings. IMarEST Supports UKHO with Professional Development

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has joined the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) as a Corporate Marine Partner. Its involvement with the initiative has had an immediate effect. This new partnership has already seen over 400 UKHO people enrolled as IMarEST members. Membership supports their Career Level Framework (CLF) and enhances the professional and technical development of UKHO staff. UKHO Presents Guyana with Marine Geospatial Data

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has officially handed over marine geospatial data to the Guyanese Government after a campaign of hydrographic surveying. Delegates from UKHO presented the data to government officials at a special event to celebrate the completion of the survey. Two workshops were held to brief ministers and provide technical support for applications of the data, which will help Guyana support the development of its marine economy. The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has launched a new beta version of its Seabed Mapping Service, now available via the ADMIRALTY Marine Data Portal. UKHO Digital Chart Developments at SMM

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) will highlight the most recent developments to its new Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS) at SMM Hamburg 2008. UKHO will also launch the Admiralty WebChart Service (AWCS), which enables shore-based users to view Admiralty charts instantly over the internet. UKHO Conducts Seabed Mapping in Belize

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has deployed two vessels to survey the waters of Belize as part of the Commonwealth Marine Economies (CME) programme. Following a stakeholder meeting with the Belize Port Authority and wider government earlier this month, priority areas will be surveyed, capturing sonar data of Belize's main ports and approaches. High-frequency mapping sonars are being used, which have no negative impact on an area's diverse ecosystems and marine life.
