HIPAP Sea Current Meter

Kongsberg Maritime has developed a new system for measuring sea current speed and direction at given points on a drilling riser, which can be integrated with its High Precision Acoustic Positioning and underwater navigation system, HiPAP. The Sea Current Meter and HiPAP package is designed to improve control of drilling operations and has already been delivered to the first user.   The Sea Current Meter package consists of a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) interfaced to a telemetry transponder, which sends the 3D sea current data via acoustics to the onboard HiPAP system. FSI 2D-ACM Current Meter in Peru

Falmouth Scientific, Inc has shipped its 2D ACM Current Meter to the Velfi-Cosapi Consortium in Peru, where it will be installed at the ship-loading berth of the Camisea Upstream facilities in Pisco. The berth is a new facility to be located 3 kilometres offshore in Pisco Bay and will be used to load diesel, naphtha and refrigerated propane and butane onto ocean-going tankers. (read more)

Current Meter Trials Reveal Best Solution for Port Monitoring

Working with NOAA's CO-OPS Division (Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services), Fugro GEOS has just completed a study comparing two current monitoring devices near the Freeport Entrance Channel in Texas. The study focused on the comparison of a traditional seabed-mounted current meter and a buoy-mounted device. Falmounth Scientific Announces Current Meter Training in India

Falmouth Scientific, Inc. (FSI) of Cataumet (MA, USA) have recently announced that it has completed training for the Indian Navy in operation and maintenance of its 2D-ACM current meter systems. Over 30 Navy personnel from five vessels attended the 3-day training course, which was conducted by Fred Hegg of FSI at the National Hydrographic Survey facility in Visakhapatnam. FSI supplied fourteen of the 2D-ACM current meters with conductivity, temperature, and depth (CTD) modules to the Indian Navy in February of this year. SonTek Meter for Windfarm

OSIL has supplied a SonTek Argonaut SL (Side-Looking) current meter for an offshore windfarm near Barrow-in-Furness.
