The GeoChirp 3D from GeoAcoustics Ltd provides the shallow-survey market with a new tool to image sub-surface structures and buried objects. The GeoChirp 3D provides a three-dimensional image of the sub-seabed with typical penetration of 10 – 30m and decimetric horizontal and vertical resolution, with the results presented as a high resolution 3D seismic volume. Multibeam Water Column Imaging

Kongsberg Maritime’s new multi-beam echo sounder, EM 3002, extends the functionality of multi-beam echo sounders to cover 3D imaging of biomass and other acoustic reflectors that might be present in the water column. 160 acoustic beams are sampled digitally with a spatial resolution of 15cm for each ping, creating a digital image of a slice of the water mass under the transducer. Water Column Imaging Integration

CARIS' HIPS and SIPS is to integrate water column imaging. Version of HIPS and SIPS 7.1.1, scheduled for release in January 2012, allows differences in the water column data to be made visible for increased productivity.   With water column data, users will be able to extract more qualitative sonar information to reduce the number of run lines and save time and money in survey operations. Seismic Imaging Software Upgrade

Spectrum Geo has expanded its in-house seismic imaging solutions with an agreement to purchase licences of the Paradigm Echos processing package. Pre-stack multiple attenuation tools inherent in the Echos solution licenced by Spectrum include 3D surface related multiple attenuation (SRMA) and apex shifted Radon. The software licence purchase also includes anisotropic reverse time migration (RTM) to further expand Spectrum's imaging solution available through Paradigm GeoDepth.   Spectrum is already committed to Paradigm's GeoDepth model building and imaging platform. US-based Sound Metrics has launched its newest product, the ARIS Explorer line of high-definition imaging sonar. The device offers detailed and video-like resolution. Imaging Improvement for Flowcam

Fluid Imaging Technologies has announced an improvement on the imaging capabilities for its FlowCAM instrument which is used for rapid imaging of aquatic microorganisms. The instrument is getting better and more detailed images in organisms as seen before. Switchable FLS Imaging Option

R2Sonic incorporates a switchable forward-looking sonar (FLS) imaging option to Sonic 2024 Broadband Multibeam Echosounder Systems. When enabled, the option allows the user to easily switch from operating the Sonic 2024 in a bathymetric profiling mode, projecting a narrow 1° along-track beam, to an imaging mode projecting a wide 22° vertical beam.   In imaging mode the operator will see a plan view ahead of the sonar in real time, at much greater ranges than underwater cameras. Imaging FlowCytobot Sampler

McLane Research Laboratories, USA, is presenting during Ocean Business 2013 a new in situ sampler. The Imaging FlowCytobot (IFCB) is an automated submersible imaging flow cytometer that generates images of particles in-flow taken from the aquatic environment. Depending on the target population, the IFCB can generate around 10,000 high-resolution images per hour. The IFCB uses a combination of flow cytometric and video technology to capture high resolution (1μm) images of suspended particles in the size range <10 to 100μm (such as diatoms and dinoflagellates).
