Successful Completion of Caspian Sea Project Using geoROV Technology

UTEC Geomarine, UK, has successfully completed the first phase of a geotechnical site investigation in the Caspian Sea for a major oil and gas operator. The project was completed using a cost-effective, time-efficient suite of remotely operated vehicle (ROV)-conveyed technology, comprising of UTEC’s patented geoROV seabed cone penetration test (CPT) and sampling system, geoREACT suction skid and a specially developed rotary core drill. Maps and images of seabed habitat, geology and biological data in the seas around North-West Europe can now be viewed online. This resource has been created by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, in a five nation project called, The Development of a Framework for Mapping European Seabed Habitats, or MESH.   Important to the project was discovering more about the processes that determine the existence of certain habitats in a particular location. OSI Completes Seabed Characterization Projects

Ocean Specialists Inc (OSI), has announced the completion of a series of seabed characterization projects that involved geophysical and geotechnical surveys at selected locations in the Gulf of Mexico and Western Atlantic. OSI incorporated the survey resources of its sister company, CSA Ocean Sciences Inc (CSAOS), mobilizing a total of three separate missions under rapid planning and mobilization conditions. Deep-water Measurement Campaign Completed Offshore Portugal

A deep-water measurement campaign offshore Portugal has been completed by Metocean Services International (MSI), having achieved 100% data return across multiple mooring locations. MSI was contracted by Calecore, on behalf of Repsol, to profile currents at two separate locations in over 750m water depth. This project marks the first time the company has worked in Portuguese waters. The moorings consisted of multiple ADCPs and Aquadopp current meters, spaced across the full depth of the water column, in order to provide a high-resolution image of the complex current interactions at each location. The dedicated QuickStitch software package has been designed specifically for data collected with a Teledyne BlueView 3D Scanning Sonar to streamline the review, cleaning and alignment process. Developed by EIVA from the NaviModel solution, which is part of the NaviSuite software suite, QuickStitch is based on industry-proven hydrographic software. MMT Wins UXO Contract for Race Bank

MMT, Sweden, has been granted a contract from DONG Energy Wind Power for UXO inspections and excavations of various contacts with option on disposal and removal at Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm, off the east coast of the UK. Based on previous surveys, a number of ferromagnetic and acoustic contacts have bene identified at discrete locations which may impede wind farm component installation and therefore need to be inspected visually to confirm their identity.
