Seabed Adds Zenith Mobile Mapping System

The Dutch company Seabed has used Ocean Business 2015 to announce the addition of Zenith mobile mapping systems to its portfolio. The Z-720 mobile mapping system is fully calibrated and collects data in a 100m range at 1cm accuracy. The system integrates GNSS, IMU and FOG for positioning. 3D Mobile Seabed Mapping Using Underwater Laser Technology

Sonardyne has used 2G Robotics’ underwater laser scanning technology to dynamically scan and map the seabed in Monterey Bay, California, USA. The high-resolution deepwater mapping of Sur Ridge was performed using 2G Robotics’ ULS-500 underwater laser scanner mounted on an ROV. For the deployment, the ROV was equipped and navigated using SPRINT 700 AAINS, 6G Wideband Syrinx DVL (600kHz), ROV Nav 6 LBL transceiver and a precision pressure sensor. Waterside Mapping

Laser scanning and bathymetric side-scan sonar represent the cutting edge of environmental survey technology. Over the last few years, we have tested the integration of these two methodologies, carrying out a number of high-resolution surveys on the Po River, the Venice canals and various Italian harbours. Bathymetric surveys were conducted using a SEA SWATHplus-H wide-swath sonar. An Optech ILRIS-3D terrestrial laser scanner was used to scan the areas above water level. Mapping the American and Canadian Continental Margins Around the North Pole
For the third consecutive summer, the United States and Canada teamed up with their icebreakers in August to tackle the technical aspects of mapping their continental margins in the Arctic Ocean. However this time they included in their survey a zone of dispute that was much closer to shore.
