Free DGPS CD from Veripos

New Magnetic Survey System

Innovatum has announced availability of a new magnetic survey system for a wide variety of applications Ð the SEARCHER system. This is a new towed array tool providing highly detailed magnetic mapping, both on land and in marine environments. It consists of an array of magnetic sensors mounted on a frame, which may be towed over land or on the seabed or mounted on other underwater vehicles. Ixsea Oceano has opened two offices in the US to provide commercial and technical support for local customers. The main office is in Burlington on the outskirts of Boston MA, with a branch office located in Charleston, SC. US Navy Prowler Recovered

Phoenix International, Inc. has completed a mission to locate and recover a US Navy EA6B aircraft from 58msw in the Persian Gulf. The aircraft was lost while conducting flight operations last summer. Under the direction of the Office of the USN Supervisor of Salvage, a Phoenix search and recovery team reported aboard USNS CATAWBA (T-ATF 168) in September 2003 to initiate shipboard installation of equipment. The team then deployed a Navy Centurion shallow-water side-scan sonar search system to methodically cover the initial search area. ILMF2004 Registration

The International LIDAR Mapping Forum is pleased to announce that registrations are now being accepted for the ILMF2004 meeting. The two-day meeting will feature an expanded programme that, in addition to aerial LIDAR mapping, will also include dedicated sessions addressing airborne LIDAR bathymetry, 3D laser scanning (ground LIDAR) and software applications. Several workshops will also be available to registrants. The popular icebreaker reception and a complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will offer attendees the opportunity to network with others in the LIDAR mapping industry. New ESRI Charting Solution

ESRI has introduced its new Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) Nautical Charting Solution, which includes data loading, single-click editing, extraction and quality control production tools, as well as a product-specific geodatabase model. PLTS is a collection of software applications built on top of ArcGIS, for high-volume database production, maintenance, quality control, and high-quality cartographic output. USGS Upgrades to SWATHplus

The US Geological Survey Center for Coastal and Marine Geology, located at Woods Hole, Massachusetts has recently taken delivery of a SEA SWATHplus, upgrade to the Submetrix 2000 system purchased in 2000. The centre will be using the SWATHplus for near-shore mapping and identification of seabed geo-morphology. The SWATHplus electronics package is augmented with a much improved software suite that gives easier real-time control and processing, along with enhanced QC tools and 3D visualisation. (read more)

SeaBat Systems Sales in Italy

MAST Srl has ordered a complete survey package, including a RESON SeaBat MBE 8101 (Extended Range), to support MAST in pipeline inspections, site mapping and several other demanding survey applications. Deliveries, to come from RESON Mediterranean, include those for scientific institutions such as the National Research Council, the National Geophysical Observatory and CONisMa (the Italian university Consortium for Sea Surveying).
