Installation of Ocean Networks Canada’s Near-Field Tsunami Detection

Ocean Networks Canada—an initiative of the University of Victoria—together with ASL Environmental Sciences (Canada), Northern Radar (Canada) and Helzel Messtechnik (Germany), have completed the installation of a WERA NorthernRadar system that will detect near-field tsunamis. It is anticipated that the radar will be able to detect the surface expressions of tsunamis up to 100km from shore, which will provide twenty to thirty minutes of advance warning.     The WERA system was installed at the Tofino Airport so that tsunamis generated off the west coast of Vancouver Island can be measured. Environmental Ship to be Fitted with Navigation Radars

Northrop Grumman Corporation has received orders to supply navigation radars for a new ship being built for the Norwegian environmental organization Green Warriors of Norway. The Green Warriors’ ship, M/V Miljødronningen, will be fitted with two VisionMaster FT radars supplied by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. Transas Multifunction 4000 for NORDEN Tankers

The technical management of NORDEN, one of Denmark's leading shipping companies has decided to commence a transition towards paperless navigation on a number of their tankers. Transas Marine has been chosen as a supplier of 4000 Multifunction Display (MFD) series for those tankers. Nortek Acquires Seadarq

Nortek (Netherlands) has acquired SeaDarq, a Dutch company specialising in software-enhanced radar systems with special focus on oil spill detection, small object detection, and upper-layer current measurements.   The advanced software system can be interfaced to most commercial marine radars and is currently in use both on ships and as part of land-based radars like those used in heavily trafficed ports like Rotterdam. OSIL acquire UK rights for Codar Ocean Sensors' SeaSonde

OSIL has announced their partnership with Codar Ocean Sensors. OSIL have become Codar's UK representative and will be primarily selling the SeaSonde, Codar's HF radar system. Type Approval for VisionMaster FT

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit has received type approval from the U.K. certification body, QinetiQ, for its new-generation VisionMaster FT suite of marine navigation systems.   The QinetiQ type approval certifies that the VisionMaster FT ECDIS conforms to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) technical specifications and International Maritime Organization (IMO) performance standards. The type approval also authorises Sperry Marine to mark the products with the European Union Wheelmark insignia, signifying compliance with applicable European Council directives. ECDIS Upgrade on Indian Navy Ships

Transas Marine Pacific has successfully started upgrading Indian Naval vessels to its latest Multifunction Display 4000 MFD series as a proof of concept.
