Remotevision Wins Dame Award for Simrad and B&G

B&G RemoteVision from Simrad was announced joint winner of the Marine Electronics category of the 2004 DAME Awards. Held every year by the organisers of METS, the Amsterdam RAI, the awards recognise excellence and innovation in marine equipment across the industry. Simrad launched RemoteVision at Southampton Boat Show 2004 and it is already installed on several high-profile yachts, including Ellen MacArthur's B&Q and Mike Golding's Ecover. New VHF Communication Solution for Shore-based Systems

RSE for MARUM

Schilling Robotics, LLC announced its selection by the MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, University of Bremen, Germany, to supply major subsystems from its Remote Systems Engine (RSE) for a new self-contained, remotely operated, deepwater drilling system called MeBo. Currently in development, MeBo will be used in scientific research projects at depths up to 4000 meters, drilling holes or retrieving core samples up to 50 metres long, and performing in-situ measurements with sensor probes. Proceedings of its Hydro4 symposium in Galway last November attended by delegates from over 30 countries are now available from the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies, formerly The Hydrographic Society. Norcontrol IT AIS Infrastructure Software for East Malaysia

Norcontrol IT will supply the shore-based software infrastructure for the first AIS Network for East Malaysia. The contract is through Norcontrol IT's teaming partner, Tideland Signal Pte Ltd (subsidiary of Tideland Signal Corp), whose local agent Jinora Corporation secured the contract. The prime contractor, Telekom Malaysia will oversee all communication links. The AIS Shore infrastructure will consist of 5 Shore Stations and one AIS Information Management centre. Atlas Sounders for Leading Port Authorities

Atlas Hydrographic in Bremen has received a major series of orders for proprietary DESO high-precision vertical echosounders from leading port authorities in France, Germany, Morocco and Poland. The commissionings include remote-controllable DESO 25 systems for Bremen Ports Authority in Germany and the Port of Szczecin in Poland while in France, further units are to be delivered to the Ports of de La Rochelle and Nantes respectively. Vexcel Corporation in cooperation with the Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing (CSTARS) of the University of Miami (FL, USA), announced their joint development of the OceanView ocean surveillance system. OceanView provides automatic ship detection from readily available, low-cost satellite imagery for use in law enforcement at sea.
