New Midas BathyPack

Valeport has released a new Precision Depth Profiler, the Midas BathyPack. The BathyPack uses high accuracy sensors to calculate a Density profile of the water column, which enables real time conversion of pressure data into precision depth measurements; additional altimeter input and sound velocity data from the renowned miniSVS allow the exact position in the water column to be measured. SeaBat Users Conference

The RESON Group, in conjunction with TOYO Corporation, held a SeaBat Conference in Tokyo the end of April. The event was extremely well attended with 130 participants from all over Japan. US$ 1.8 Million Contract for Merrick & Company

Merrick & Company announces a $1.8 million contract to deliver a total turnkey LIDAR solution to Lidar International Partnership, Ltd. Schilling Robotics Gains Control Systems Chief

Steve Cohan has joined Schilling Robotics, LLC as director of control systems engineering. Using his experience in control systems for a wide variety of products (from robotic surgical instruments to aerial drones to ROVs), he will focus on enhancing product performance features and robustness. First Field Results for Kongsberg-HISAS

Kongsberg announces the first field results for the new Kongsberg–HISAS Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS). SASs combine a number of acoustic pings to form an image with much higher resolution than conventional sonars, typically 10 times higher. The HISAS sonar is part of the HUGIN system solution for mine countermeasures, which has been ordered recently by the Norwegian Navy. Fastrax Ltd. announced the new iTrax03-02 line of receivers, featuring ultra-low power consumption and state-of-the-art functionality, yet designed with the same form factor as the company's older iTrax02 receivers. Fugro Pelagos, Inc. Awarded 5-year NOAA IDIQ Contract

Fugro Pelagos, Inc. has negotiated a contract with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA-NOS), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce, to provide Hydrographic Surveying and Related Support Services. The Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract is for 5-years, and not-to-exceed US$50,000,000. An initial Task Order has begun, valued at just under US$6,000,000 for operations in remote portions of Alaska waters, using multiple vessels, and RESON 8111 and 8101 multi-beam echo sounder systems.
