ATLAS Hydrographic has introduced a new advanced three-channel system featuring a networked Windows interface with associated software, DESO 35. Available as a compact rack-mounted assembly for ease of installation or one which can be operated direct from a PC, the system provides full-size split-screen LCD displays of port and starboard measurements with internal data storage. Alternatively, it can produce hard copy data via a high-resolution thermal paper recorder; both facilities are supplied as flexible modular enclosures complete with swivel-mounting hardware. Explorer DVL for Littoral Vehicles

RD Instruments has introduced the Explorer Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), designed to provide precision navigation and current profiling capability aboard small littoral platforms such as AUVs, gliders, expendable UUVs, inspection-class ROVs, and diver platforms. iTrax03-02 OEM GPS Receivers

Fastrax Ltd has released iTrax03-02, a new line of receivers featuring ultra-low power consumption and current functionality yet designed with the same form as the older iTrax02 receivers. NOAA Contract for Fugro

Fugro Pelagos, Inc. has won a five-yea contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA-NOS), a bureau of the US Department of Commerce, to provide hydrographic surveying and related support services. The contract is not to exceed US$ 50,000,000. An initial Task Order has begun, valued at just under US$ 6,000,000, for operations in remote portions of Alaska waters using multiple vessels and RESON 8111 and 8101 multi-beam echo sounder systems. First Field Results SAS

Kongsberg has announced first field results for the new Kongsberg–HISAS Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS). SASs combine a number of acoustic pings to form an image with much higher resolution than conventional sonar, typically 10 times higher. The HISAS sonar is part of the HUGIN system solution for mine countermeasures recently ordered by the Norwegian Navy. HISAS is a wideband SAS sonar with frequency range of 70-100kHz, capable of producing ultra high-resolution acoustic images and co-registered bathymetry. Three-year USACE IDIQ Contract for Fugro Pelagos

Fugro Pelagos Inc. (FPI) has successfully negotiated a contract with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, to provide surveying and mapping services in support of the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) Regional Coastal Mapping and Charting Program, as well as other USACE programmes. The contract will primarily employ airborne hydrographic Lidar, but also includes several other remote-sensing technologies. The Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is for three years, and is not to exceed US$ 12 million. Hipap 500 for Seaway Heavy Lifting

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract for delivery of a Hipap 500 underwater position reference system and will replace the existing HPR310 system on board the Stanislav Yudin. A remote-controlled hoisting unit will deploy the Hipap 500 transducer to 3.5 metres below the keel. The Hipap 500 is a highly accurate positioning system with dynamic beam forming and can be used in shallow and deep water. Controlling the Hipap 500 is done with the Windows-based APOS software.
