New ROV Survey Package

Kongsberg Maritime has introduced an EM 3002 ROV Survey Package. It consists of a complete suite of imaging, positioning and communication hardware and software, and has been designed for straightforward installation and mobilisation on any ROV. The package includes: EM 3002 single- or dual-head multi-beam echosounder HIPAP 500 or 350 (P) SSBL acoustic positioning system Hydro Acoustic Inertial Navigation (HAIN) and motion-sensing system bathymetric sensor doppler log. Review Digital Video

A workgroup established by the Offshore Survey and Remote Systems & ROV divisions IMCA has released Digital Video Offshore: A Review of Current and Future Technologies for the benefit of offshore contractors and their clients. The new publication should provide an understanding of digital video technology, the potential benefits available over existing analogue technology, practical applications and issues relating to the development of standards within the survey industry. LOG_aLevel for RIZA

Rijkswaterstaat (The Netherlands) has ordered nine LOG_aLevel Stations (Autonomous Remote Sensing of Water Level and Waves) from General Acoustics GmbH. Six stations will be set up in the Netherlands and three are included in a co-operation project for China. The order follows on a comparison test of fifteen different level systems ordered by Rijkswaterstaat (RIZA) in the Netherlands and performed by Delft Hydraulics. (read more)

Merrick & Company Appoints William Emison

Merrick & Company has appointment of William (Bill) Emison as MARS Product Manager. Mr. Emison is responsible for sales, marketing, product development and the MARS partner and reseller programs. MARS (Merrick Advanced Remote Sensing) software offers users the ability to efficiently view and analyze large amounts of LIDAR data. With MARS, over one thousand square miles of data, representing 100 gigabytes of data, can be utilized at the desktop. New General Manager for Veripos

Walter Steedman has been appointed General Manager of global precise positioning service provider, Veripos, responsible for worldwide operations with particular focus on its European, African and Middle East networks. Mr Steedman was formerly Global Business Development Manager of Subsea 7’s Integrated Remote Technology Division, having previously been the company’s Global Survey Manager. He will work closely with Bobby Johnson, who is head of technology and product development responsible for operation of Veripos’ extensive worldwide networks and infrastructure. Scarabeo 5 DP Upgrade Passes CAT

The Kongsberg Maritime Class 3 DP system installed on the Saipem owned Scarabeo 5 passed its Customer Acceptance Test (CAT). Scarabeo 5 is a Semi-Submersible built by Fincantierri shipyards and delivered in 1990. The 'Hot Upgrade', carried out whilst Scarabeo 5 was still in operation (drilling and completing) consisted of a triple redundant Dynamic Positioning System and Position Mooring System (SDPM-31) with a fire backup (Class 3). WatchMaster Contract

AXYS Technologies Inc. (ATI) has won a competitive contract from Consorcio Oceanográfico Geohidra – Incostas (CGI) for the supply of a WatchMaster oceanographic and meteorological data collection buoy.
