Silicon Sensing Supports 'Mayflower' Autonomous Ship Project

To mark the 400th anniversary of the 'Mayflower' setting sail to America with 102 intrepid early settlers on board, a team has a plan to design and build a fully autonomous ship to make the same Atlantic crossing, completely unmanned, in 2020. The team is led by US-owned but UK-based (Plymouth) firm MSubs and includes Plymouth University and ProMare (a charitable research foundation). Seaview Sensing to Install at Wave Hub

Seaview Sensing are to supply their metocean data software to the University of Plymouth and PRIMaRE (Peninsula Research Institute for Marine Renewable Energy) for use in the new Wave Hub project in the South West of England. AUVs for Environmental Recognition and Sensing

ECA Group is currently involved in a European project called 'Smart and Networking Underwater Robots in Cooperation Meshes (SWARMs)' in order to increase the knowledge level in underwater robotics. This California (USA)-based company has recently introduced a series of Personal Water Propulsion (PWP) Surfboards, Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) and Water Rescue Boards. The Hydrographic Society UK has recently decided to reschedule its two-day Remote Hydrography conference (originally due to take place in late October 2019) for 6-7 May 2020. The venue remains the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.
