Software Contract

Schlumberger has signed an agreement with Hess Corporation to provide geological, geophysical, reservoir engineering, economics, drilling, and production software. The agreement also includes data management services and enhanced application and workflow support for Hess worldwide.   Under the agreement, Hess will deploy GeoFrame reservoir characterisation, Petrel seismic to simulation, ECLIPSE reservoir simulation, Merak project economics, as well as OFM and Drilling Office softwares.   (read more)

CARIS has released HIPS Version 6.0 off-the-shelf bathymetric data cleaning and validation software integrated with powerful vector product creation. HYPACK 2008 Survey Software

On 15 February 2008, HYPACK officially released HYPACK 2008. This release represents almost a year of improvements to our previous version HYPACK 6.2B. HYPACK 2008 consists of a complete surveying package for acquiring and processing bathymetry, ADCP, magnetometer, side scan sonar, and sub-bottom data, and charting tools for S-57 production.   Some of the new features in HYPACK 2008 include Point Cloud editing tool, Sub-Bottom Profiling, new 3DTV with waves & sky. Nortek Software Update

New AWAC firmware and software is available at the Nortek website. The latest version includes option for faster download (maximum 1.2 MBaud) and it also includes the SUV data collection scheme. The SUV is a new processing method (patent pending) developed in order to allow directional wave data to be collected from a subsurface buoy. (read more)

New Cross-Platform Software

RBR is introducing a new cross-platform multi-instrument software application, Ruskin, that is the successor to the "RBR Windows" software. Ruskin has been written to enable multiple instrument and dataset support, cross platform operation on PCs, Macs, and Linux computers, and remote network access to instruments.     It lays the foundation for planned enhancements, such as increased data export options, application specific modes for harbour masters and lab technicians, and more detailed analysis tools. NaviModel 4 by EIVA, Denmark, includes a free viewer, the completion of laser scanner data implementation throughout the data acquisition and processing workflow covered by the EIVA NaviSuite products, and a new video image draping feature. ALDA Marine Upgrades Software

ALDA Marine, a partnership between Alcatel Submarine Networks and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, purchased four upgrades and an additional full license of Makai's suite of submarine cable planning and installation software. The MakaiLay software provides ALDA with the capability to automatically control the cable engine enhancing their ability to control cable slack and accurate placement of the cable on the seafloor. Alcatel has also renewed technical support for twenty-two licenses of MakaiPlan – the desktop submarine cable route planning software which integrates with the at-sea installation software, MakaiLay. Quester Tangent Software Sales

Quester Tangent Corporation has delivered multiple QTC MULTIVIEW seabed classification software licenses and a QTC VIEW to the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Four licenses for the former software have been supplied to Kansas City and St Louis in Missouri, to Buffalo, New York and to Portland, Oregon, who additionally took delivery of a turnkey QTC VIEW Series 5 system.
