Software Contract

Schlumberger has signed an agreement with Hess Corporation to provide geological, geophysical, reservoir engineering, economics, drilling, and production software. The agreement also includes data management services and enhanced application and workflow support for Hess worldwide.   Under the agreement, Hess will deploy GeoFrame reservoir characterisation, Petrel seismic to simulation, ECLIPSE reservoir simulation, Merak project economics, as well as OFM and Drilling Office softwares.   (read more)

Nortek Software Update

New AWAC firmware and software is available at the Nortek website. The latest version includes option for faster download (maximum 1.2 MBaud) and it also includes the SUV data collection scheme. The SUV is a new processing method (patent pending) developed in order to allow directional wave data to be collected from a subsurface buoy. (read more)

HYPACK 2008 Survey Software

On 15 February 2008, HYPACK officially released HYPACK 2008. This release represents almost a year of improvements to our previous version HYPACK 6.2B. HYPACK 2008 consists of a complete surveying package for acquiring and processing bathymetry, ADCP, magnetometer, side scan sonar, and sub-bottom data, and charting tools for S-57 production.   Some of the new features in HYPACK 2008 include Point Cloud editing tool, Sub-Bottom Profiling, new 3DTV with waves & sky. Charting underwater structures, soils and project progression using GPS, sonar, single and multibeam systems produces a huge amount of data that needs to be analysed. Software for Hydrographic Surveying

In 1981, after working with the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office as a field hydrographer and completing a graduate business degree, Pat Sanders founded ’Coastal Oceanographics’. The purpose of the company was to provide hydrographic consulting for companies with large hydrographic survey contracts. As a part of his consulting practice, Sanders wrote Fortran-based programs to manually enter raw hydrographic data to produce smooth sheets. Veripos has introduced Verify DPx, a status monitoring and display software package specifically designed for dynamic positioning applications. Interactive Visualization Systems (IVS) has released its latest version of the Fledermaus software suite. New features include a significantly increased rendering speed, the support of more data file formats, improved movie making capabilities and a Vessel Manager application that tracks remotely operated vehicles in real time and with simulation options.
