IMCA Publishes Offshore Survey OPS Mobilisation Checklist

Survey contractors, ROV contractors, pipeline installation contractors and their clients have a variety of in-house checklists for mobilisation of offshore survey operations. Now the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has provided a standard framework for an industry-wide list in its new publication ‘Mobilisation Checklist for Offshore Survey Operations’ (IMCA S 016).

“This checklist is based on material contributed by members of our Offshore Survey Division management committee,” explains Hugh Williams, Chief Executive of IMCA. “It is designed for use by contractors and can be presented to a client, or used by the client acting separately. In every instance it seeks to improve efficiency thanks to everyone literally speaking the same language.”

The slim document provides a framework to build either a brief or detailed mobilisation checklist for survey support operations, and could be expanded to cover any offshore survey operation. The extent of the checklist developed depends on the complexity of the survey, which includes lists for personnel, HSE, scopes for a minimal or more detailed technical/survey systems checklist, as well as procedures and reporting, and a section providing references and further reading on the subject.

IMCA members can download the document free of charge from the members-only website with printed copies available at GBP2.50 for members and GBP5.00 for non-members. Copies can be ordered from www.imca-int.com/publications or [email protected]; or from IMCA at 52 Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0AU, UK. Tel: +44 (0)20 7824 5520; Fax: +44 (0)20 7824 5521.
